Deep Fryer Recall Notice

Health Canada is notifying the public about a voluntary recall of T-FAL Maxi Fry deep fryers.  According to the recall notice, a loose internal connection can overheat, posing a fire hazard.  Approximately 40,000 affected units were sold at Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Hart Store, London Drugs, Metro Richelieu, and the Northwest Company Inc. between 2003 and 2005.  The recall involves white T-FAL Maxi Fry deep fryers with the following model numbers:

 

-FF100250

-FF100651

 

Only T-FAL Maxi Fry deep fryers with date codes prior to the 19th week of 2005 are included in this recall

 

There have been 117 reports of incidents where the terminal blocks overheated, causing minor damage to kitchen countertops. No injuries were reported.

 

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these affected deep fryers.  Consumers with the affected product are asked to stop using it immediately and to contact Groupe SEB Canada's Consumer Contact Centre at 1-800-418-3325 or by mail at the following address:
